Discipline Learned Through Tennis

I have been a big sports fan, since childhood.  I have not missed any single football or basketball game. Whether it’s pre-season or super ball, this loyal sports fan is always there. My favorite teams 49ers, can sometime hear my loudest cheer from the 49ers stadium.

As one day, my uncle asked me to play tennis with him casually, I didn’t know a thing, or technique, i in fact didn’t have a proper shoe.  I played just for fun, and I really enjoyed it, so I started to play once a week, just in the form of exercise since I was in middle school and all my friends who were playing Tennis was already been learning since elementary.

However, as I started to play I realized the techniques and intricacy the game requires, which was very exciting for me to learn, so I decided to give it a serious thought and started practicing with my uncle. In few months, I started playing decent. Now, when it comes to start trying out for my school team, I was nervous as I had to compete with kids who had been playing since years but I was determine to pursue it for two reason; 1) it had cultivated the discipline in me 2) I can get a chance to represent my school, so I gave my 100% physically and mentally.

To my surprise, I got selected in the high school varsity team and since then my love, journey and passion for Tennis had started. I participated in 25+ inter-school tournaments, numerous practices and weeks of try-outs have taught me to be disciplined, resilient and humble. In each match you go with the mindset of winning, give your 100% and prepare above and beyond, but take the result very sportingly.
